Can We Keep City Buddha In Ohio City?

I was almost bereft walking to work yesterday. As I passed City Buddha, there was a 'store closing clearance' sale banner out front. I immediately went in to see what was going on....they are not closing the Cleveland Heights location -but I am hoping they don't have to leave Ohio City either!

Obviously I'm not privy to the financials.....maybe they need a new location that does not cost as much to rent per square foot of space.....in any event, Ohio City needs City Buddha! I have friends who don't even live near the place who frequent it on a regular basis...we all do, I'm sure! Are chain stores and restaurants the only ones who will be around in ten years? How do we keep the local, signature stores afloat? By spending money there please! Let's not let this happen at another local establishment, when you have the opportunity, please frequent a local shop.

Can you email Larry the owner (larry@citybuddha.com) and ask him to find another Ohio City location please! Peace Out - 3C

Carole, since I'm not from your "neck of the woods" I was curious what this store sells, so I visited their website, which is apparently under construction. Care to share what types of things this store sells and why it's so well liked and frequented by you and your friends?

They are colorful, everything from lamps, window panels, beads, necklaces, incense, buddha's of course! Colorful storage cabinets, african art objects, etc. It's funny, when I sell a house to someone in Ohio City they always say how cool, I'm close to City Buddha!

This is to inform the public!!!

Larry Collins at City Buddha has been selling counterfeit art. And it is being made kind of sweat-shop style in Bali.

He copied about 10 artists work from New Zealand and has been selling it here in the states as his own.

Kind of unethical, don't you agree?

It should be a matter for authorities to determine the validity of your charge, and I have no experience in this matter. I hope it is not true since City Budha is such an institution in (now) Cleveland Heights (having left Ohio City). I'm hoping you will check this out, anonymous (I would have preferred a real name!) rather than putting up the accusation here.
